About Sylvia Plath

Sylvia Plath was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1932, and displayed an impressive literary talent from a young age—she published her first poem when she was just eight. Her father, Otto Plath, a Boston University professor and bumblebee expert, passed away when she was eight, and that loss became a recurring theme in nearly all of her writing.
