One-time, not daily. One AI run without an account, and one more when you create a free account. We'd rather say that here than let you discover it on the second run.

The free account credit does not refresh — /me/ labels it "One-time credits". After that, either a plan or banked referral credits pay for further runs.

• Starter — 100 credits a month, about 3 runs a day.
• Plus — 500 credits a month, about 16 runs a day.
• Pro — 1,000 credits a month, about 33 runs a day.

Yearly plans get the same monthly allowance — you pay for twelve months up front, and the credits still arrive month by month.

On your billing date, not the first of the month. If you subscribed on the 12th, your credits refresh on the 12th. Subscribe on the 31st and short months refresh on the 30th or 28th, then it returns to the 31st.

Yearly plans refresh monthly too. /me/ shows the exact next date.

No. The refresh sets your balance to your plan's allowance rather than adding to it, so anything unspent is gone at the reset. That's true on yearly plans as well, and we'd rather tell you here than in a footnote.

Banked referral credits are the exception — they sit in a separate balance and are never wiped by the monthly refresh.

AI runs stop until your reset date, and we show you which date that is. If you have banked referral credits they're spent automatically first.

Nothing else changes. Every poem page, analysis, theme, comparison, study guide, and discussion-question set stays readable, and the deterministic tools keep working without limit.

Credits are one of four separate checks. The other three are there to keep the tools up for everybody:

• Going fast — 10 runs from one network in five minutes. Applies to everyone, paid plans included. Wait a few minutes.
• Too many runs from your network today — a daily ceiling per IP address, on anonymous and free accounts only. Paid plans skip it entirely.
• Storgy is at capacity — a site-wide daily budget for AI work. Temporary, and not a reflection of your allowance.

The network ceiling is the one that catches classrooms, offices, and cafés, where everyone shares a single address. If a free user is stopped by it, we hand their credit straight back — you should not lose a credit to someone else's usage.

No. Reading costs nothing and always will — poem pages and their line-by-line analyses, themes, movements, comparisons, study guides, and discussion questions. Credits only pay for a fresh AI run.

No. When a run fails we put back everything it consumed — the credit, the daily counters, and for anonymous visitors the one-time free run itself. The error message says "Your run was not charged."

The one thing not given back is your place in the five-minute burst window, since that exists to stop a failing request being retried in a loop.

No. Submit identical text to the same tool and you get the existing result back without spending a credit — that's true of the standalone tools and of the Writing Desk alike. At the Desk the buttons relabel themselves "free (unchanged text)" so you can see it before you click.

Better still: paste a poem that's already in the Storgy catalogue and we send you to its published page instead of running anything.

Two exceptions. Workshop chat has no cache — every message is a fresh run, because every message is a new question. And a run started from a Desk draft always spends its credit, because it records its own entry in that draft's timeline.

On /me/, where the plan panel shows the number, a usage meter, and your next reset date. The Writing Desk also shows a running count in its status bar.

The /me/ figure includes banked referral credits; the Desk status bar shows plan credits only. Every priced action re-checks the real balance on the server before it runs.

There's no one-off credit top-up to buy. The way to earn extra is referrals: 10 credits when someone you referred runs their first tool, 100 when they subscribe monthly, 300 when they subscribe yearly.

Banked credits work on any plan, free included, and are spent only once your monthly allowance is gone.

Exactly as they always did. Those plans are metered by daily run caps rather than credits, and nothing about them changed when credits arrived — Student gets 50 runs a day resetting at midnight UTC, Teacher Pro has no daily cap.

You keep that deal, at that price, until you cancel. If you do switch to a current plan the change is permanent — the old rates are closed.
