Terms of service — last updated 2026-07-10
The agreement, in plain terms
Using Storgy — reading the library, running the writing tools, or subscribing — means you accept these terms. The short version: your writing stays yours, we never sell it or train models on it, tool results live at shareable public URLs, and we ask that you use the site honestly and within its published limits. The privacy notice covers data in detail; refunds have their own page.
The service
Storgy is a poetry and literature knowledge engine: a library of public-domain poems and books, study guides, and a suite of AI-assisted writing tools (analyzers, checkers, raters, and generators). The AI tools produce automated literary analysis and feedback. They are built carefully and evaluated continuously, but they are machine output: they can be incomplete, miscalibrated, or wrong. Treat them as a well-read second opinion, not as a grade, a professional edit, or a promise about how a human reader — or an exam marker — will judge the same text.
Accounts
You don’t need an account to read the site or run your first free tool run. An account requires a working email address you control; keep access to it secure, since signing in happens by magic link or Google. One account per person. You must be at least 13 to create an account — younger students may use Storgy only through a school arrangement covered by our student data privacy agreement. We may suspend or close accounts used to abuse the service (see section 06); if we do, we’ll say why.
Free runs, credits & subscriptions
Anonymous visitors get one free AI tool run; creating a free account adds one more. Paid plans include a monthly credit allotment (one AI run costs one credit) that refreshes on your billing date; unused credits don’t roll over. Deterministic tools — syllable counter, rhyme-scheme finder, citation generator, and similar — are free and unmetered.
Payments are processed by Paddle as merchant of record: Paddle is the seller of record for the transaction and handles VAT/sales tax. Prices are shown at checkout; subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel any time from billing & cancel — cancelling stops future renewals and keeps your plan until the period ends. Refunds follow the published refund policy. Subscribers on retired plans keep the exact terms they signed up under until they cancel. We may change prices or plan contents for future billing periods with advance notice by email; changes never apply retroactively to a period you’ve already paid for.
Your writing — ownership & license
Anything you submit to a tool — poems, stories, essays, questions — remains yours. We claim no ownership. So the service can work, you grant Storgy a limited, non-exclusive license to store your submission, process it with the AI sub-processors named in the privacy notice, and display the result at its permanent share URL. That license is for operating the service only: we do not sell your text, publish it elsewhere, or use it to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s.
Tool results live at URLs with unguessable IDs but are publicly reachable by anyone who has the link, so don’t submit anything you couldn’t bear to have read. To have a specific result removed, email hello@storgy.com with the URL. Deleting your account permanently deletes your account-linked submissions and results after a 14-day grace window.
Only submit writing you have the right to submit. Presenting someone else’s work to the feedback tools as your own defeats the point — and the tools are built to recognize published work and decline to score it as a draft.
AI processing
Analyses are generated by Anthropic’s Claude models, with a second phrasing pass by OpenAI. Both providers receive only the text needed to produce your result and, under their API terms, do not train on that input by default. The full sub-processor list, with links, is on the trust & compliance page. Results are cached: submitting identical text to the same tool returns the existing result rather than paying for a fresh generation.
Acceptable use
In return for the free tier and honest pricing, we ask that you don’t:
- submit unlawful content, or content you have no right to share (private third-party writing, for example);
- circumvent rate limits, free-run gates, or credit metering — including with scripts, multiple accounts, or cleared cookies;
- scrape or bulk-download the site or use automated access beyond what robots.txt and published feeds allow;
- probe or disrupt the service’s security — responsible disclosure is welcome via the security page;
- resell or white-label tool output as an automated service.
We may throttle, suspend, or close access that breaks these rules. Paid, unused time on a closed abusive account is not refunded beyond what the refund policy or your local consumer law requires.
Storgy's content
The poems and books in the library are public domain and remain so — take them, no permission needed. Everything Storgy adds — analyses, study guides, editorial writing, design, and the site’s code — is Storgy’s copyrighted work. Quote it with attribution and a link; don’t republish it wholesale. The sources & methodology page explains where our texts come from.
Availability & changes
We work to keep Storgy fast and available but don’t promise uninterrupted service. Features — including individual tools, models, and limits — may change or be retired as the product evolves. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes mid-term, we’ll notify subscribers by email with the option to cancel and be refunded pro-rata for the remainder.
Disclaimers & liability
Storgy is provided as-is. To the extent the law where you live allows: we disclaim implied warranties; AI feedback is informational and not professional, academic, or legal advice; and our total liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or, for free use, zero). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing reduces consumer rights that mandatorily apply in your country of residence.
Changes & contact
We may revise these terms as the product changes. The date band above always reflects the current revision; material changes are announced by email to account holders before they take effect, and continuing to use Storgy after that means you accept them. Questions, removal requests, or disputes: hello@storgy.com. We’ll always try to resolve problems directly and quickly — that’s cheaper and kinder than anything involving lawyers.
