Based on the hit film ‘A Streetcat Named Bob’ and inspired by the true-life story of James Bowen and his beloved stray, Bob, Streetcat Bob follows the adventures of Bob and his furry friends. Written and created by Debbie Macdonald (Peppa Pig, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom) and Garry Jenkins (A Street Cat Named Bob), the initial run of four 90 second webisodes are being launched weekly via the new website: www.Streetcatbob.world, and YouTube Channel, www.bit.ly/StreetCatBobWorld with the first episode available now.
Bob was rescued by busker and Big Issue seller James Bowen in 2007 when he found him injured. Since then the pair have been inseparable, appearing first on the streets of London, then as the subjects of a series of books, most famously ‘A Street Cat Named Bob,’ which went on to major motion picture success. Still wearing his trademark scarf, the irrepressible feline is now taking centre stage in an animated web series.
The shorts have been animated by the BAFTA winning King Rollo Films (Maisy, HUMF) and produced by Adam Rolston and Luke Melia at Shooting Script Films, the company behind the big screen adaptation of ‘A Street Cat Named Bob.’ James Bowen has acted as Executive Producer.
